California Pharmacy Technician exam?

I have been a pharmacy technician in the state of Ohio and Virginia, in those two states I was allowed to work without any certification when we moved to California they require that you are certified. Do you have to be nationally certified or is there a certification just for that state? I know that in Virginia you can just be certified just for that state.
