Can I uninstall and reinstall the sims 2?

My Sims 2 has been super duper slow because the chose better graphics in the game, so I want to uninstall it and reinstall it. I know that when I tried to do that with my original Sims 1 game, it said that my code was already used, I really don't want that to happen. Will that happen with the sims 2 as well?
