Could thunderstorm have caused slow XP install?
When I go to re-install XP, the process takes PAINFULLY long so long that it doesn't even make it to the GUI part of setup. I did the math and if I waited for the install to finish, I'd be there for probably 40 hours! The particular system had XP on it previously and running well. This is what I'm suspecting caused this: There was a thunderstorm here and everything was fine before it, now even loading a live disc (linux) takes FOREVER. Could the thunderstorm maybe have damaged part of my motherboard to the extent that it works but not at top performance? The only expansion i have is AGP (I know, old but it works) video card. I'm aware that it would be easier to just buy another system but I kinda want to fix it.
